Destinations and Excursions in the Salzkammergut

Into the land of the operetta, this is how one could describe our trip to the Salzkammergut with all its beauty. Even Emperor Franz Josef and his family were guests of the summer resort here. In the forests around Fuschl the Salzburg princes and archbishops staged glamorous hunts. Today the former hunting lodge Fuschl is home to an exclusive luxury hotel.

St Gilgen on Wolfgangsee is a picturesque place well worth seeing. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's mother was born here.
In St Wolfgang we show you the unique gothic winged altar by Michael Pacher and the world famous "Weiße Rößl am Wolfgangsee" which became famous due to the operetta of the same name. We leave St Wolfgang on board a boat and after a 25-minute idyllic boat trip you will be back in St Gilgen.

The legendary Krottensee and Hüttenstein palace will also fascinate you. The last leg of our roundtrip is the Mondsee. Your excursion into the beautiful Salzkammergut will certainly make an everlasting impression on you.

Schafberg Railway

For more than 100 years now the Schafbergbahn has been magnetically attracting thousands of enthusiastic tourists and foreigners, travellers from all over the world to the 5.85km railway line up the 1,783m high mountain.
It climbs an altitude of 1,188m in less than a one-hour journey.

A quick look at the panorama map is enough. The Postalm offers numerous hiking possibilities. And another serviced hut can be found where you can stop off and have a bite to eat or a drink.

Animal village: petting zoo on Wolfgangsee

The petting zoo on Wolfgangsee - mainly domestic animals to look at, stroke and feed which live in real little houses!
Daily treasure hunt in the sand heap with nice prizes, water games when it's hot, large playground with special games, step cars with their own racing track leading through a tunnel and also for grown ups.
Lots of children's vehicles, animal swings, interesting swings and toys, trampolines, etc.

Wolfgangsee advent season

The peace light lantern shining for a long way, shines in dark winter nights over Wolfgangsee and invites locals and guests from far and close to marvel and rejoice at the Wolfgangsee advent.
Christ Child is eagerly awaited here and the fascination of living tradition entices you to drop by and stay. In St Wolfgang, the romantic star village, in St Gilgen and in Strobl the Wolfgangsee advent is celebrated as every year.

Dollhouse museum Hintersee

In Hintersee city centre there are 35 dollhouses with more than 30,000 parts, bears and toys, guests of all ages and offer a glamorous insight into the "big world of little things".

Apart from this the life of Joseph Mohr is documented in this historic and recently renovated building which was built in 1748. The poet of the song "Silent Night" lived in Hintersee for 9 years (1828 - 1837).
