In 1919 Theresia and Martin Lackner, the great-grandparents of the current proprietor Martin Lackner jun, bought the "Leitnerbräukeller". Since then the inn has been family property.
Due to a lack of electric cooling devices the previous owners had dug a storage facility for beer into the opposite hillside. Thanks to its constant temperatures this is now an ideal cellar for the wines of the Lackners’ vinoteka and restaurant.

Until 1957 the legendary Salzkammergut local railway stopped outside the inn.
In 1960/61 the Lackner family built the hotel, which was developed from 1999-2000 by Martin Lackner to today's level of comfort.

Martin Lackner sees himself as a "dedicated cook in the fourth generation". After work experience in the USA and Hawaii he took charge of his parents' business in 1999 which is in the meantime appreciated by many regular guests.

Highest quality is expressed in entries in many gourmet guides, a toque in the Gault Millau as well as the "Bib Gourmand" for a good price performance from Guide Michelin. Best incentive for this up in the future.
