During summer, Easter and Whitsun, Salzburg becomes the mecca for all fans of classical music when the Festivals take place in the city. During the summer festival, Salzburg's cathedral square (Domplatz) becomes the backdrop of the Festival's most famous play - Hugo von Hofmannsthal's 'Jedermann' (Everyman).

Emperor Town Bad Ischl
Bad Ischl, frequented by Austria's Emperor Franz Josef and his wife, Sisi, is a cultural hub of the Salzkammergut Lake Region, charmingly combining tradition with zeitgeist, the town offers such attractions as the historical Zauner Coffee House and pastry shop, which itself dates back to the Emperor's times, and which offers a wide range of traditional Austrian pastries, prepared and served as they were when the establishment opened. Lake Wolfgangsee
The 'Weisses Rossl' Restaurant might be the most famous attraction of St. Wolfgang and Lake Wolfgangsee, but it is definitely not the only one. Explore an abundance of cultural offers, hiking trails, water sports and day trip destinations. The Schafbergbahn train will take you 1800m up along the moutainside so you can enjoy the panoramic view of St. Wolfgang and its surrounds. You can reach other villages by crossing the lake by boat.
Lake Fuschl
Ideally located between the town of Salzburg and the Salzkammergut Lake District, Lake Fuschlsee boasts crystal-clear waters and is a great place to visit during your summer holidays in Mondsee. Improve your swing on one of the two beautiful golf courses, both of which offer fantastic views of the lake.
Gmunden
Known as 'ceramic town' due to its long history in the production of pottery, Gmunden also provides a wide variety of cultural, traditional and sporting events, all offered with a definite southern flair. The town is best explored on foot. You can also take a trip on the lake by renting one of the town’s electric boats. The challenging Traunstein Mountain on the eastern shores of Traunsee will be very tempting for any experienced climber.
Lake Attersee
Enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear drinkable waters of Lake Attersee. Attersee is Austria's largest inland lake and the seven atmospheric villages along its shores will leave you enchanted.
Hallstatt
The Hallstatt region has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1997. With its lake, breathtaking mountain range, romantic and cultural historic town and nearby tourist mine, Hallstatt is one of the most popular attractions in the region.
