Things to See and Do

in the Salzkammergut

Salzburg Festival for Culture Enthusiasts and Gourmets

During summer, Easter and Whitsun, Salzburg becomes the mecca for all fans of classical music when the Festivals take place in the city. During the summer festival, Salzburg's cathedral square (Domplatz) becomes the backdrop of the Festival's most famous play - Hugo von Hofmannsthal's 'Jedermann' (Everyman).

Salzburg is a pocket-sized cosmopolitan city with an enchanting baroque skyline including Hohensalzburg Fortress and the towers of Salzburg cathedral. The world-famous Summer Festival and the city’s favourite son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, make Salzburg an essential part of any holiday or weekend break in  Austria.

Lake Fuschl

Ideally located between the town of Salzburg and the Salzkammergut Lake District, Lake Fuschlsee boasts crystal-clear waters and is a great place to visit during your summer holidays in Mondsee. Improve your swing on one of the two beautiful golf courses, both of which offer fantastic views of the lake.

Gmunden

Known as 'ceramic town' due to its long history in the production of pottery, Gmunden also provides a wide variety of cultural, traditional and sporting events, all offered with a definite southern flair. The town is best explored on foot. You can also take a trip on the lake by renting one of the town’s electric boats. The challenging Traunstein Mountain on the eastern shores of Traunsee will be very tempting for any experienced climber.

Lake Attersee

Enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear drinkable waters of Lake Attersee. Attersee is Austria's largest inland lake and the seven atmospheric villages along its shores will leave you enchanted.

Hallstatt

The Hallstatt region has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1997. With its lake, breathtaking mountain range, romantic and cultural historic town and nearby tourist mine, Hallstatt is one of the most popular attractions in the region.

The Salzkammergut Region is one of the most important sources for ingredients for Lake Hotel Lackner's award-winning cuisine. Please contact us to discuss your gourmet holiday plans or with any enquiries.
