Hohenwerfen Castle

World of the Ice Giants Werfen

Experience the mountains in a new way. Discover the wonders of the world's largest ice cave. And you will see ice palaces of crystal clear beauty which will seduce you into a winter ice world even on a hot summer's day. The massive entrance (20m wide and 18m high) to the cave can be seen from a long way out. The entire cave system extends over 42km while the first approx. 1km long part sports huge ice structures. This part is open to the public in guided tours of this showcase cave. Inside the cave the average temperature in the summer is about 0 °C.

Eventful destination. The event starts at Kesselfall Alpenhaus. Here you will be assured a free parking space. Shuttle busses will take you to the Lärchwand cross lift- Europe's biggest. The route leads past the dam Wasserfallboden to the dam Mooserboden at 2,040m with a lovely view of the glaciers and the Hohe Tauern. Culinary delicatessen in the mountain restaurant Mooserboden and the remarkable information presentation in the visitors' centre "Event world electricity and ice" top your eventful day off.
