3 Days Salzkammergut

Short Trip

A Long Weekend in Mondsee near Salzburg

Thinking about an exciting and relaxing short break in the Salzkammergut region? Whether you are an active traveller, an enthusiastic gourmet or a fan of cultural events – we have prepared some suggestions for how you might spend time during your stay at Lake Hotel Lackner.

Your First Day: Mondsee

Start your day with breakfast as you enjoy the marvellous views of Lake Mondsee from our restaurant, the open wintergarden or lake terrace. After that we recommend taking a first walk along the Mondsee Promenade and towards the idyllic village streets in Mondsee.

For the Active:
Enjoy "high tee" on one of the many manicured golf courses in Mondsee and its surroundings. Guests at Lake Hotel Lackner can enjoy a discounted green fee for the Weyregg and Drachenwand golf clubs.

For the Gourmet:
You are a passionate cook and would love to learn from the best? During this cooking class (minimum 2 participants) with Martin Lackner, you will prepare an exquisite menu and gather a wealth of culinary hints and tips to help you create outstanding cuisine. Afterwards, you and your fellow students will enjoy dinner together.

For the Cultural:
During spring and summer, Salzburg offers an abundance of cultural events during the Easter, Whitsun and Summer Festivals. You will be spoilt for choice with the variety of events, concerts and theatre taking place throughout the city. These cultural gems of Salzburg are only a 30 minutes' drive away from Lake Hotel Lackner.

Your Second Day: Salzburg and Salzkammergut

After a restful night in your luxury room or suites with its breath-taking views, enjoy an active, gourmet or cultural day in the Salzkammergut region.

For the Active:
Don a backpack and explore the beauty of Lake Mondsee and the Salzkammergut area. For the more ambitious, we recommend the Drachenwand and Schober vie ferrate. If you prefer a more relaxed hike, you will definitely enjoy the Victor-Kaplan trail at the end of which, if you're feeling brave, you can take a refreshing jump into the waters of Lake Mondsee. Or for the less adventurous, your own private bathing spot awaits you back at Lake Hotel Lackner.

For the Gourmet:
What better way to spend a balmy summer night than relaxing on our lake terrace or wintergarden, where you can enjoy a lighter, but equally delectable meal, composed by award-winning chef Martin Lackner, complimented perfectly by a selected bottle from our outstanding wine cellar.

For the Cultural:
The UNESCO World Heritage Town of Hallstatt is, in itself, a work of art, blending nature, culture, architecture and history into an unmissable experience. The legendary 'Beinhaus' (Bone House), the World Heritage Museum, the tourist salt mine and the ancient burial ground are all worthy of a visit.

Your Third Day in the Salzkammergut

Time flies when you're in Mondsee so make the final day of your short trip one to remember.

For the Active:
Lake Mondsee is a water sports paradise. With so many options on offer, why not try something new like waterskiing or kitesurfing ? Trial courses are available during the summer.

For the Gourmet:
Grace the final evening of your mini-break with a wine tasting in the stylish setting of Lake Hotel Lackner’s wine cellar, where you can select from an extensive selection of wines, comprising tens of thousands of bottles.

Gourmet Tip:
Martin Lackner's home-made stocks, all freshly prepared, are available for you to take home at the end of your weekend break. Please ensure you order them on your first day at Lake Hotel Lackner.

For the Cultural:
Explore the life of artist Gustav Klimt and enjoy the unique landscape that inspired this world-famous painter. Visit the old emperor town of Bad Ischl during the famous Lehár Festival and enjoy one of the daily concerts at the Ischler Kurorchester or just explore and marvel at the great K&K architecture.
